Demineralization and Remineralization Dynamics and Dental Caries

چکیده
Dental caries is a multifactorial disease caused by the interaction of dietary sugars, dental biofilm, and tissue host. It results from repeated cycles demineralization remineralization at interface biofilm tooth surface. Demineralization process removing mineral ions hydroxyapatite crystals in hard tissues, such as enamel, which can lead to if left unchecked. The reverse lost that occur during demineralization. degree depends on several variables, including amount available calcium phosphate salivary pH levels. Over past decades, remineralizing or calcifying fluids with variable calcium, phosphate, fluoride formulations have been developed. management early has potential significantly advance noninvasive clinical disease. chapter outlines mechanisms demineralization-remineralization occurs use agents enhance remineralization.

Demineralization–remineralization dynamics in teeth and bone
Biomineralization is a dynamic, complex, lifelong process by which living organisms control precipitations of inorganic nanocrystals within organic matrices to form unique hybrid biological tissues, for example, enamel, dentin, cementum, and bone. Understanding the process of mineral deposition is important for the development of treatments for mineralization-related diseases and also for the i...
متن کاملDental demineralization and caries in patients with head and neck cancer.
Concurrent chemoradiation (CCR) therapy is a standard treatment for patients with locally advanced head and neck cancer (HNC). It is well documented that CCR causes profound acute and late toxicities. Xerostomia (the symptom of dry mouth) and hyposalivation (decreased salivary flow) are among the most common treatment side effects in this cohort of patients during and following treatment. They ...

While our knowledge of the dental caries process and its prevention has greatly advanced over the past fifty years, it is fair to state that the management of this disease at the level of the individual patient remains largely empirical. Recommendations for fluoride use by patients at different levels of caries risk are mainly based on the adage that more is better. There is a general understan...
متن کاملEvaluation of relation between dental fear and dental anxiety of adults with dental caries status (DMFT) and clinical consequences of untreated dental caries (PUFA)
Background and Aims: Dental anxiety and fear can act as a barrier to seek dental care leading to insufficient oral health in people. The aim of this study was to determine the relations between dental fear and anxiety with dental caries status (DMFT) and clinical consequences of untreated dental caries (PUFA) among the adult patients referred to the faculty dental clinic of Tehran University of...
